This is the message in a bottle that I would have liked to have received when I was growing up. At least, that is the intention. The younger me might not have seen the point. This is my attempt at empathizing with the kids of today growing up have been born with cleft lip and palate, as I was, into a ultra high paced world that is not always charitable to less than perfect confidence.
This book is for you who were born with cleft lip and palate. I was born with a cleft lip and a cleft palate. This is not something that I talk about very often at all. It struck me that when I looked around for books on this subject I could not find anything that discussed what this meant in a useful way. Sure, there are lots of scientific books and very graphical images of the physical issue. There are a few books talking to the parents about how to raise the child but nothing spoke realistically about what it was like to be the child and to grow up feeling different. So in response this short Ebook of about 7000 words written for people who have been born with a cleft lip and or palate. It tells the story of my experience of growing up having been born with a cleft lip and palate. It does contain a 10 step survival guide. The conclusion is stated in the title: you are totally normal, just not necessarily average.
