The Sordid Servant

She pointed to the keyhole where I could see orange light and freckles of dust floating amongst the metal lock.
I leant forward and rested my eye where she had persuaded me to do so, and what I saw left me aghast, I rested my hand on my mouth, for it simply wouldn’t do to breath like a dog and pant like a horse, but the image through the keyhole was something my mind would never be able to shift, not in this lifetime at least, and nor would it want to!
