Andrew Lang was a Scottish prolific author, mostly known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. His collections contain dozens of old stories, myths, fables, and legends including "Little Red Riding Hood", "Story of Wali Dad the Simple-Hearted", "The Story of Three Bears", "The Goblin Pony" etc. “The Headless Dwarfs” is entered in “The Violet Fairy Book”, that was published in 1901. There was once a minister who spent his whole time trying to find a servant who would undertake to ring the church bells at midnight, in addition to all his other duties. But the strange thing was that the servant disappeared during the service and never came back. Indeed, there were even those who whispered that the minister himself had murdered the missing men! The minister became to despair, but one day the youth known in the village as Clever Hans came up to him and proposed himself for a service. What secrets discovered Hans? For what occasion missed the servant-ringer? Read the story to get the answers!
