Carolyn Wells (June 18, 1862 – March 26, 1942) was an American author and poet. Wells wrote a total of more than 170 books. At the beginning of her writing career she focused on poetry on children’s books. Later in her career she devoted herself to the mystery genre. The Dorrance Domain was first published in 1905.
