Steven Henry Todd suffers through a number of situations brought about by “Jake,” his friend (more or less) and apartment roommate. When a really big problem arises, Steve makes numerous suggestions about how to deal with it, but Jake rejects them all.
Jake needs twenty-five thousand dollars (and growing) to pay off a gambling debt that started at five thousand and isn’t even his. He’s a victim of credit card fraud, but the people left holding the bag are unsympathetic. Jake faces some broken bones or worse unless he can pony up. Steve doesn’t have five thousand dollars, but he does come up with a clever idea that just may keep Jake in good health.
