Panic in Hastings

Madeline Dubois is fifty years old and pregnant and the people in the village of Hastings are shocked. Everyone speculates about who the father might be and they're wrong. No one believes Madeline when fourteen years later she finally tells the people that Richard La Doc, the richest man in Hastings is the father of her son, Francis (aka Two-Pea). But Richards wife, Melba La Doc believes her story and she is deadly angry. Madeline is murdered and Police Chief Abbott must investigate the first murder in the history of Hastings. But Madeline's murder is not the last one. Two other citizens are murdered and the village is in a panic. Abbott interrogates everyone in the village and soon narrows the search. It takes patience and persistence from the chief of police to finally get the killer and bring stability to Hastings.
