Christmas gnomes are secretive creatures from the tundra of Lapland. They spend most of the year underground making and baking sweet treats. These dolls are inspired by Scandinavian folklore: a Tomtenisse. A Tomtenisse is a little creature no more than 3 feet with a long beard and colorful clothes.
The gnome and mushroom house are easy to make. You can only use single crochet stitches (US) or double crochet stitches (UK). They are made from No 5 yarn (Bulky, Chunky, Craft, Rug) and a 5.5 mm hook (US: I/9, UK: 5). The instructions include the gnome and mushroom house. The gnome and mushroom can stand by themselves.
