According to Wikipedia: "Neil Munro (1863 - 1930) was a journalist and author. He was born in Inveraray and worked as a journalist on various Scottish newspapers. He saw himself as a serious writer, and published several novels under his own name, most but not all historical novels with a Highland setting. These include John Splendid and Doom Castle, but the best is generally considered to be The New Road (1914), a TV serial version was produced in the 1970s."
