A modern Historicist view on current events in end time bible Prophecy: Many have expected to see a Restored Roman Empire rise up for the last days leading up to the return of Christ. But this concept does not take into account several attributes of this end time Beast. Rome will never be the cohesive one world dominating empire that it was in a former era, nor should we expect it to be. The Daniel 2 description of the Roman Era reveals that it ...shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. So the “nation shattering” has almost completely broken all the great dominions of mans governmental authorities into smaller fractions in conformity to the Iron mingled with clay of the Daniel chapter two Image with every part being given a seat at the congregation of nations, the Image of the Beast called The United Nations, which is ruled behind the scenes by The Empire of the City, Mystery Babylon.
