Buddha and the Beatitudes

The Sermon on the Mount is a condensed summary of some of Jesus’s key teachings. Some of the teachings bear a remarkable resemblance to those of the Buddha. In fact, in the author’s experience, Buddhist insights and practices can help with an understanding, and putting into practice, Jesus’s words. Following a summary of key Buddhist teachings, paraphrases of both the Dhammapada (Buddha’s words) and the Sermon on the Mount are presented in a way intended to evoke insights rather than offer explanations. There is a lot of open space on these pages; spaces in which reader’s can write or drawn.
