Winter in New York, and a blizzard of historic proportions is choking the city. While most of the city is shut down, Dave Carver is a man on a mission. An old friend of Dave’s has just been murdered, killed by a vampire who didn’t drink the blood.
The scene of the crime matches up with the site of his mother’s death, who was also killed, more than a decade ago, by a vampire who didn’t drink her blood. Dave is pretty sure that this is the same vamp who killed his mother, and this time he’s the one who is out for blood.
On his mission for vengeance, Dave will find himself enmeshed more than ever before in the world of supernatural politics, including a grisly showdown with a group of magical terrorists who are looking to overthrow the Knights of the Round Table as the planet’s dominant power. His quest will take him back to his own origin story, and even further, to the dark days when humanity cowered in the darkness and the vampires first began their feasts.
Dave will need to contend with dangerous vampires, meet with fundamentalist ghouls, do battle with zealous werebears, and navigate the snow-choked streets of New York. Along the way he’ll make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and he might even lose a few.
None of that matters, though. Because for Dave Carver, revenge is…best served cold.
