Bertie Bear is an old bear that lives in a playroom in London. He has always wanted to see the world.

He is a magic wishing bear and is able to make things happen (in a good way). He gets lost in a department store, where he is found by the store owner.

The store owner sends him as a gift to a niece in America. He never gets there, but gets lost in the post, where he ends up arriving in Hawaii.

He learns to Hula dance and keeps a baby quiet for a couple of weeks before getting snatched by a dog and left on a wall.

He then needs to work out how to get back from the wall to his home in London, which he does in his own special way.

The book was written by a highly experienced primary school teacher who had become tired of reading stories for children which lacked any description, pace or fun. He wrote it to see how well he could do it. The classes he has tried it on have really loved the book and have highly recommended it to other classes in the school. The children have used it in their guided reading sessions and it has really helped to promote a love of reading.
