Augustus and the Late Unpleasantness, Episode Three

Constable Wright and Augustus are engaged in the delicate dance of interviewing witnesses, with only the most minor of distractions besetting them. Foremost among these is Prudence Whitegate herself, who seems to see herself as a basilisk in the hallway, with her own purposes firmly in hand.
Meanwhile, Doctor Poole is having a long, hard think about his motivations where Mary is concerned when Augustus springs a little surprise on him. And Mary is trying to sort out how to slip away from Celia and Julia at the inn. She has forgotten how very clever her girlhood friend is, however.
Otto, on the other hand, has decided to sit back and stop worrying. No good ever came of fussing over a problem.
