Anton Pavlovich Chekhov was famous Russian physician, playwright and author who is considered to be among the greatest writers of short stories in history. His career as a playwright produced four classics and his best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics. Chekhov practised as a medical doctor throughout most of his literary career: "Medicine is my lawful wife", he once said, "and literature is my mistress." The story Defenseless Creature by Chekhov tells about a very nerdy and nasty woman which came to the private bank, demanding money that owed her husband. At the arguments she was screaming and protesting, saying that she was weak and defenseless woman but anyway kept demanding money. Chief banker despite a migraine attack still was working trying to comfort her. Other bank employees were trying to shush her but nothing helped. Suddenly someone made a comment that she was stupid and dull. At this statement she started threatening and complaining to reach the higher authorities...Finally Kistunov gave her money from his own purse and then left. But she came the next day...
